ST Engineering secures 15-year MRO contract with Akasa Air
As part of the agreement, ST Engineering will provide the first Performance Restoration Shop Visit (PRSV) service for Akasa’s LEAP-1B engines at its Singapore facility. The partnership covers Akasa Air’s current fleet of 25 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, along with an additional 201 aircraft expected to be delivered over the next eight years.
Earlier this year, Akasa Air signed a separate deal with engine manufacturer CFM International to purchase over 300 LEAP-1B engines to support its expanding fleet of Boeing 737 MAX jets, bringing the airline’s confirmed order book to 226 aircraft.
Daniel Saldanha, Vice President - Maintenance and Engineering, Akasa Air, expressed confidence in ST Engineering’s expertise, stating that the collaboration will ensure peak operational performance and a reliable travel experience for its passengers.
ST Engineering recently announced the successful establishment of testing capabilities for LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines at its Singapore facility and is now expanding to include LEAP Performance Restoration Shop Visit services.
Akasa Air, backed by the Jhunjhunwala family, began operations in August 2022 and has since expanded to international routes, including West Asia.
