Second Bengaluru airport may come up near Nelamangala
It is reported that air traffic at the existing Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has been rising. Considering Bengaluru’s future needs, the 11th round of discussions concerning the development of the second international airport took place last Friday. In a meeting chaired last month by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, various sites, including Harohalli on Kanakapura Road, Bidadi, and Nelamangala, were reviewed. Although Harohalli near Kanakapura Road was considered for serving passengers in the southern part of Bengaluru, it was found to be less suitable due to limited development potential, being close to the Tamil Nadu border. In contrast, the Nelamangala area was deemed more appropriate from an overall development perspective.
