The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted an operating licence to Rewa Airport, providing a significant boost to the Vindhya region of Madhya Pradesh by enhancing economic growth and regional connectivity, said Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

With this approval, Rewa becomes the sixth operational airport in the state, joining Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Khajuraho, an official confirmed. "Rewa Airport will expand regional connectivity and stimulate economic activity in the Vindhya region," Yadav stated in a release. He further noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the airport would be a key milestone in the development of both the Vindhya region and Madhya Pradesh, aligning with the vision of 'Developed India-Developed Madhya Pradesh.'

The DGCA licence allows the airport to handle both passenger and cargo flights. This new infrastructure is expected to improve access to cultural and historical landmarks, while boosting trade, employment, and tourism in the region.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, a native of the Vindhya region, expressed excitement that air travel for local citizens would soon be a reality. He stressed that Rewa Airport's operation would provide a fresh impetus to the economic, social, and cultural development of the region. In his statement on Tuesday, Shukla congratulated the people of Vindhya and Madhya Pradesh, while expressing gratitude to the prime minister, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, and the chief minister for making this achievement possible.
