Kuppam Greenfield Airport Revival to Boost Connectivity

The Kuppam Greenfield Airport, located at the tri-junction of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu within the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor, is set for a major revival. Positioned within 100 km of Bengaluru, 250 km from Chennai, 75 km from Hosur, and 180 km from Tirupati, the airport is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity and foster industrial growth.

Originally envisioned by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who laid its foundation stone in 2018, the project was stalled under the previous administration. With the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) back in power, renewed efforts are underway to fast-track its development.

Challenges & Development Strategy ???? Land acquisition remains a key hurdle, necessitating public engagement, fair compensation, and structured resettlement plans. ???? The project will follow a Public-Private-People Partnership (P4) model, leveraging state and central government funding along with private investment. ???? Initial efforts will focus on fast-tracking approvals from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and environmental authorities, followed by land acquisition and site preparation.
