The Noida International Airport (NIA) achieved a significant milestone as its first validation flight successfully landed today. The event was attended by Civil Aviation Minister Shri Ram Mohan Naidu, Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma, and Jewar MLA Shri Dhirendra Singh. Operated by IndiGo, the flight received a ceremonial water cannon salute, earning applause from dignitaries and site workers instrumental in the project’s development. Senior officials, including Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam and Airport Authority of India Chairman Vipin Kumar, were present to witness the validation of the airport's navigational aids, approach and departure procedures, and air traffic control systems. Minister Naidu commended the project team, highlighting Jewar Airport’s transformative potential for air travel and regional connectivity. Slated to open in April 2025, the airport will feature one operational runway and a terminal designed to handle 12 million passengers annually, blending world-class infrastructure with Uttar Pradesh's cultural heritage. During the visit, the Minister reviewed progress with the airport operator, emphasising adherence to deadlines and sustainable practices, including the use of solar energy. Connectivity plans, such as road, rail, and metro links, were also evaluated, with discussions on future integration into a high-speed rail network to enhance accessibility. Minister Naidu underscored the airport's economic significance, projecting job creation, tourism growth, and regional development in Western Uttar Pradesh. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for their visionary leadership and dedication to India's infrastructure growth. The Minister extended gratitude to the workers for their dedication and congratulated the Noida International Airport team and IndiGo for facilitating the validation flight, setting the stage for NIA's operational debut in 2025.
