Rites Revises Estimate for Northeast Frontier Railway Electrification

RITES, a leading public sector enterprise in transport consultancy and engineering, announced a revised estimate of Rs 532 crore for an electrification project under the Northeast Frontier Railway. The project, initially estimated at Rs 288.44 crore, involves the electrification of the Lumding and Badarpur junctions in the Lumding division, which will be executed on a turnkey basis.

As of September 30, 2024, the Indian government holds a 72.20% stake in RITES, and the company has faced a 27.84% decline in consolidated net profit for Q2 FY25 compared to the previous year. Revenue from operations also fell by 7.12%. Despite this, RITES continues to expand its footprint in transport infrastructure, with the electrification project playing a key role in improving the energy efficiency of the railway network.
