Rashtriya Chemicals and Topsoe enter Rs 5.14 bn deal for ammonia plant revamp
The contract, which spans 36 months, includes the procurement of a Basic Engineering Design Package (BEDP) and the supply of proprietary equipment and catalysts aimed at reducing specific energy consumption. This initiative is part of RCF's efforts to enhance efficiency and sustainability in its operations.
"We inform that the Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held July 11, 2024, has accorded its approval for the Placement of Purchase Order on Topsoe A/s for procurement of Basic Engineering Design Package (BEDP) and Supply of Proprietary Equipment and Catalyst for revamp of Ammonia Plant at RCF Thai for a reduction in specific energy consumption," RCF stated in a filing with the stock exchange.
Currently, the Indian government holds a 75% share in RCF, while the remaining 25% is distributed among LIC/mutual funds, UTI/financial institutions, and the public.
RCF operates fertiliser and chemical manufacturing plants at two locations in Maharashtra: Trombay and Thal. These plants produce nitrogenous, phosphatic, and potassic fertilisers along with a wide range of industrial chemicals.
