NHIDCL Revises Underpass Plan for Shillong

The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has announced revisions to its plan for the proposed underpass in Shillong, aiming to enhance the project’s feasibility and effectiveness. This underpass is a key component of Shillong’s urban infrastructure upgrade, designed to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity within the city.

Originally planned with certain specifications, the project faced several challenges, including concerns related to environmental impact and local traffic conditions. The revised plan reflects NHIDCL’s responsiveness to these challenges, incorporating changes intended to mitigate potential issues and ensure the underpass integrates smoothly into the existing urban fabric.

The updated design aims to address specific issues such as the management of stormwater runoff, the preservation of local flora and fauna, and the minimization of disruptions to current traffic flows during construction. These adjustments are crucial for balancing the developmental needs of Shillong with its environmental and community considerations.

The revised underpass plan is expected to facilitate smoother traffic movement and reduce bottlenecks in key areas of the city. It represents NHIDCL’s commitment to not only advancing infrastructure projects but also ensuring they meet environmental and community standards.

As Shillong continues to grow, infrastructure improvements like the underpass are essential for managing urban traffic and enhancing overall city mobility. The successful implementation of the revised plan will contribute significantly to the city’s development and ease of transportation.
