Modi Lays Foundation for Bageshwar Dham Medical Institute

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Bageshwar Dham Medical and Science Research Institute in Garha village, Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. Speaking at the event, Modi announced that the institute, spread over 10 acres, will house a 100-bed facility in its first phase. He praised Shri Dhirendra Shastri for his efforts and extended his congratulations to the people of Bundelkhand. 

Addressing the audience, Modi criticised those who attempt to divide society by attacking religious beliefs and traditions. He commended Dhirendra Shastri’s efforts to promote unity and announced the establishment of a cancer institute at Bageshwar Dham. 

Modi highlighted India’s tradition of combining spiritual and scientific knowledge, emphasising the global recognition of Ayurveda and Yoga. He also praised health initiatives during the ongoing Maha Kumbh, including the 'Netra Maha Kumbh,' which has provided eye care to thousands. 

The Prime Minister noted the crucial role of religious institutions in managing healthcare facilities and serving underprivileged communities. He mentioned the upcoming mass wedding ceremony for 251 daughters at Bageshwar Dham on Mahashivaratri, appreciating the initiative’s social impact.

Discussing the government’s healthcare efforts, Modi underlined the success of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which offers free treatment up to Rs 500,000, and the establishment of Jan Aushadhi centres providing affordable medicines. He announced free Ayushman Cards for senior citizens above 70 and expanded dialysis services across districts. 

Focusing on cancer care, Modi stressed early detection and announced plans to open cancer daycare centres in every district over the next three years. He warned against the health risks of tobacco and stressed the importance of timely cancer screenings. 

Modi also highlighted development projects in Bundelkhand, including the Rs 450 billion Ken-Betwa Link Project and the Har Ghar Jal initiative, which is addressing water scarcity in the region. He emphasised empowering women through programs like Lakhpati Didi and Drone Didi, aimed at enhancing women’s economic independence and agricultural support. 

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to Bundelkhand’s development and expressed hope for the region’s continued prosperity. The event was attended by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and other dignitaries.
