MCD Floats Tenders for 32 Parking Lots

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has invited e-tenders for 32 authorised surface parking sites across the city under a fresh monthly licence fee structure, targeting an annual revenue of Rs 91.4 million.

The parking lots span various locations including Jahangirpuri, Civil Lines, Pitampura, Punjabi Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, RK Puram, Kashmere Gate, Saraswati Marg, and Shaheen Bagh.

The revised fee structure varies based on the location and capacity of each site. For example, the parking site in Jahangirpuri carries a monthly licence fee of Rs 48,000, while the covered drain parking lot in Sudarshan Park is priced significantly higher at Rs 799,733. Other key locations include Civil Lines (Rs 128,000/month), Pitampura (Rs 37,332/month), Punjabi Bagh (Rs 270,876/month), and Shalimar Bagh (Rs 48,000/month).

On a monthly basis, the MCD expects to generate around Rs 7.62 million, adding up to Rs 91.4 million annually. According to an MCD official, the pricing is determined by the location, historical demand trends, and the parking site’s capacity.

Bidders selected through the competitive process will be responsible for managing the site, deploying trained staff in uniform, maintaining cleanliness, issuing printed or digital parking slips, and installing CCTV and signage. Operations must commence within seven days of receiving the Letter of Intent.

The initial licence period is one year, extendable by another year based on satisfactory performance. However, no bidder can be awarded more than five sites.

Strict conditions are in place—subletting the site or engaging in unauthorised activities is prohibited. Overcharging, refusal to issue receipts, or staff misbehaviour will attract penalties or cancellation of the licence.

The MCD said applicants must meet eligibility criteria, submit all required documents, and furnish an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) to participate in the tendering process.
