Mahindra Renames EV Amid IndiGo Protest and Plans to Move Court

Mahindra & Mahindra announced that it would drop the word 'e' from the name of its new electric SUV, 'BE6e,' following objections from Interglobe, the parent company of IndiGo airlines, regarding the use of '6E,' which is their flight code. However, the company stated that it would contest Interglobe's objections to the name of its new green SUV, the BE6e.

Mahindra, which had received a notice from Interglobe on the matter, confirmed that it would challenge the issue in court after Interglobe raised a legal objection to the use of "BE6e" for Mahindra's new electric car, which the auto company had referred to as 'Be Sexy.'

The company further explained that it would seek the brand rights for "BE6e" in court, even as Interglobe sought control over the '6E' brand. Mahindra revealed its electric SUVs, the BE6e and XEV9e, on November 26 and also applied for trademark registration under class 12 (vehicles) for "BE6e" as part of its electric-origin SUV portfolio.
