Lucknow Municipal Corporation Unveils Budget Boost for Cleanliness & Infrastructure

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has announced its Rs 42.36.63 billion budget for 2025-26, with a major emphasis on sanitation and road infrastructure to tackle key civic concerns.

Addressing Swachh Survekshan Setback One of the driving factors behind the increased budget is Lucknow’s sharp decline in Swachh Survekshan rankings, slipping from 17th place in 2022 to 44th in 2023. In response, LMC is ramping up efforts to improve waste management and sanitation services across the city.

A substantial portion of the budget has been allocated to:

Expanding garbage collection services Modernising waste disposal systems Upgrading public sanitation infrastructure Road Infrastructure Gets a Boost Beyond sanitation, LMC is focusing on road development and maintenance. Funds have been earmarked for:

Road repairs and new construction Installation of interlocking tiles to improve road quality Patchwork repairs in high-traffic zones to ease congestion No Tax Hike Despite Increased Spending Despite the higher expenditure, the LMC has assured no increase in property tax, water tax, or sewer tax. Instead, the administration plans to enhance revenue collection through improved property tax compliance and efficient tax collection mechanisms.

With these initiatives, the LMC aims to elevate Lucknow’s cleanliness standards and enhance urban infrastructure, ensuring a better quality of life for residents.
