L&T Construction bags Rs 100 bn+ Power Transmission orders

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that it has received orders of significant value for its power transmission and distribution business in India and internationally, amounting to an estimated range of Rs 10 billion to Rs 25 billion. It was reported that the company has secured a new order for the construction of a 765kV transmission line. The purpose of this line is to facilitate the smooth transfer of renewable energy from the developing Andhra Pradesh wind and solar energy hub near Kurnool. In the fiscal year 2022-2023, L&T successfully secured orders worth approximately Rs 2.3 trillion. Considering the upcoming elections in March 2024, the company has provided a forecast indicating an order intake growth of 10-12% for the fiscal year 2023-2024.

The management team has emphasised that there is a high level of visibility regarding future projects, estimating a pipeline worth over Rs 10 lakh crores. This pipeline is expected to include a mix of domestic and international orders, with a ratio of approximately 65:35 respectively. Within the projected pipeline, around Rs. 6.5 lakh crores worth of projects are anticipated to be in the infrastructure, power transmission, transportation, metals, and minerals sectors. Additionally, projects worth Rs 2.5 trillion from the energy sector, particularly in hydrocarbon, are also expected.
