JSW Group to Invest Rs 14.87 Bn in Maharashtra EV Facility

In a bold move towards green mobility, JSW Group is set to invest Rs 14.87 billion to develop a greenfield electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. The investment will be raised through a long-term loan, with additional capital expenditure covered by equity infusion from the conglomerate.

A Major Step in India's EV Expansion The new plant, to be developed under JSW Greentech, will be located on a 100-acre site in Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC), Bidkin. It is designed to produce 10,000 electric buses and 5,000 electric trucks annually, while also fostering an ecosystem for EV components.

Ambitious Expansion into Green Mobility This initiative underscores JSW Group’s commitment to sustainable transportation and aligns with India’s push for reduced carbon emissions. It complements the company’s existing automotive ventures, reinforcing its foothold in the rapidly expanding EV market.

Beyond the MG Motor JV: JSW’s Independent EV Aspirations Parth Jindal, a key figure in JSW’s leadership, has highlighted the group’s ambition to move beyond its joint venture (JV) with MG Motor India. “We are not limiting ourselves to the JV. Our vision is to create a robust EV ecosystem in India, with a strong focus on innovation and scalability,” he stated.

JSW’s Vision for a Greener Future The Maharashtra project is part of JSW Group’s larger strategy to expand into EV and battery manufacturing, positioning itself as a standalone player in the sector. With a focus on sustainability and technological advancement, JSW aims to play a pivotal role in India’s transition to a cleaner automotive future.
