It's official! NCC's AAV Ranga Raju is Construction World Person of the Year 2023

New Delhi, 12 October 2023: At a grand ceremony organised by FIRST Construction Council, CW’s Global Awards, as part of the India Construction Festival (ICF), presented multiple awards to top-performing companies and industry stalwarts who made significant contributions to the construction segment at Shangri-La Eros Hotel in New Delhi.

One of the most notable awards was the “Construction World Person of the Year - Private Sector” Award to AAV Ranga Raju, Managing Director, NCC. He was unanimously chosen by the Jury Panel for his outstanding contribution to the industry, which not only propelled his organisation, but also had a positive impact on the industry as a whole in 2022-23. Last year’s “Man of the Year – Private Sector 2022” award winner was SV Desai, Whole-Time Director and Executive Vice President (Civil Infrastructure), Larsen & Toubro.

Even as the compere at the 2023 event announced, “… And we have the honour of announcing the Construction World Person of the Year 2023 in the private sector - The award goes to AAV Ranga Raju, Managing Director, NCC,” most of the people in the packed hall stood up to give him a standing ovation. Amid the applause she went on to say, “The most awaited award champion of the evening. The Construction World Person of Year in the private sector – a leader who crafted an extraordinary career path. He dedicated over 40 years of service to the company and oversaw the transformation from a family business, India's second-largest publicly listed infrastructure powerhouse.”

In his acceptance speech on behalf of AAV Ranga Raju, Vinod Kumar Yadav, Director, Transport, NCC, said, “AAV Ranga Raju, the Managing Director of our company, NCC, is the recipient of the Construction World Person of the Year Award. Our company has also been given an award for “Top Challenger” and “Fastest Growing Construction Company”. This recognition of our Managing Director is not just a personal achievement to him but also a testament to the collective effort of Team NCC and the challenges we have overcome together. I express my profound gratitude on my behalf, on behalf of our Managing Director and on behalf of each and every employee of NCC to Construction World and the distinguished jury for bestowing these awards upon our company, NCC. It is a reminder that in today's interconnected world, our actions have the power to inspire and drive positive change in the industry. Our company accepts this award on behalf of all those who dedicated their time, energy and passion to make our world a better place through construction and infrastructure development. These awards are a testament to the unwavering commitment from the fabulous labourers who work at sites in challenging conditions, to the engineers who save iconic landmarks.”

One of the companies that won awards in various categories was Larsen and Toubro (L&T) which won awards in categories of “Largest & Most profitable construction company”, “Most Admired”, for L&T Construction and Mining Machinery and the ENR Awards. Apart from the "Man of the Year – Private Sector" award, NCC also secured the title for “Fastest-growing Construction Company in the large category” apart from being recognised as one of the "Top Challengers" in the industry.

While PNC Infratech earned the title of the "Fastest Growing Construction Company" in the large category, J Kumar Infraprojects bagged "Fastest Growing Construction Company - Medium Category", "Top Challengers" as well as secured the "Construction Project of the Year" award for its Thane Creek Bridge Project.

While HG Infra Engineering bagged "Fastest Growing Construction Company" in the medium category apart from an award in the “Top Challengers” category, PSP Projects emerged as the "Fastest Growing Construction Company" in the small category.

APCO Infratech bagged “Construction Project of the Year” for its Bundelkhand Expressway Project.

The “Product Innovation of the Year” award, for Steel Slag Road Technology, went to CSIR- Central Road Research Institute (CRRI). For corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, SOBHA gained the “CSR Company of the Year” title. Also GA Infra, Bharat Vanijya Eastern and KEC International bagged “Emerging Company of the Year” awards.

The 21st CW Global Awards 2023, recognising the commitment of top notch construction segment leaders and companies to excellence and sustainability, brought them together on a common platform to celebrate their achievements, even while contributing to the greater Indian Nation’s Growth Story.
