Fadnavis to fast-track mega infra projects

As Devendra Fadnavis resumed his role as Maharashtra Chief Minister, the focus on fast-tracking key infrastructure projects is set to intensify. His leadership is expected to expedite high-priority developments, including expanding the Samruddhi Expressway and the Versova-Bandra Sea Link (VBSL).

A flagship initiative, the Samruddhi Mahamarg extension, will connect the underdeveloped regions of Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Gondia to Maharashtra’s longest and highest access-controlled highway. With an investment of Rs 600 billion, the project aims to enhance economic prospects for 12 districts. The groundwork for the extension is already in motion, with tenders issued and contractors in place, and Fadnavis' experience in expediting land acquisition is expected to minimise delays.
The Dharavi Redevelopment Project, facing resistance from residents, is also anticipated to gain momentum under Fadnavis. Survey work is ongoing, and there is optimism that the project will provide new housing and improved infrastructure.

Fadnavis’ leadership is critical for advancing the Mumbai Metro expansion. The Metro Line 11, connecting Wadala to CSMT, and the completion of Metro Line 3 by 2025 will significantly ease Mumbai’s traffic congestion, reinforcing Fadnavis' reputation as a key champion of urban transport development.
