CCI Seeks Public Comments on Bharat Forge-AAM India Acquisition

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has invited public comments on the proposed acquisition of AAM India Manufacturing Corporation Private Limited (AAMCPL) by Bharat Forge Limited (BFL). The transaction involves BFL acquiring 100% shareholding and full control of AAMCPL, including e-axle assembly lines that AAMCPL will acquire from AAM Auto Component (India) Private Limited.
BFL is a global manufacturer of critical forged components across various sectors, including automotive, railways, defense, aerospace, and oil & gas. AAMCPL specializes in the manufacturing and sale of axles for commercial vehicles in India. BFL also has stakes in Meritor HVS (India) Limited (MHVSIL) and Automotive Axles Limited (AAL), two joint ventures engaged in similar operations.
The CCI has raised concerns that the proposed combination may have an appreciable adverse effect on competition. As per Section 29(2) of the Competition Act, 2002, the Commission has directed the parties to publish transaction details for public awareness and invite feedback from stakeholders.
Details of the proposed combination were published in Mint, The Financial Express, Hindustan Times, and The Indian Express on March 19, 2025 and are available on the websites of CCI and the involved companies.
As per Section 29(3) of the Act, any person(s) affected or likely to be affected by the transaction can submit written comments, objections, or suggestions to the Secretary, Competition Commission of India.
Submissions must be made within 10 days from the publication date. The Commission will not consider unsubstantiated objections.
