The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) Sub-Committee on the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has revoked Stage-I of GRAP across the National Capital Region (NCR) with immediate effect. This decision follows a significant improvement in Delhi’s air quality, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 153 (‘Moderate’ category) as per the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) daily bulletin.

The improvement is attributed to strong surface winds and favourable meteorological conditions. Forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) indicate that Delhi’s AQI is likely to remain in the ‘Moderate’ category in the coming days.

While Stage-I restrictions are lifted, CAQM has urged all relevant agencies in the NCR to continue implementing statutory measures and pollution control guidelines to prevent a decline in air quality. Authorities are particularly advised to focus on dust mitigation efforts in construction and demolition activities, as well as road and open area management, which could significantly impact air quality in the coming months.

The Sub-Committee will continue to monitor the air quality situation and reassess the need for further action based on IMD and IITM forecasts.
