BMC Allocates Rs 4.93 Bn for Shree Siddhivinayak Temple Revamp

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has appointed an architectural consultant to develop a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed revamp of the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple precincts in Prabhadevi. The beautification project, valued at Rs 493 crore, aims to improve the temple's infrastructure and facilities for visitors.

The consultant will be responsible for obtaining necessary permissions, securing approvals, and drafting tender documents. In February 2024, the civic body invited Expressions of Interest for the project, with the contract awarded to M/s. Engineer Studio Pvt. Ltd. The consultant will conduct a thorough site survey, measure existing structures, and prepare construction plans in line with the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple Trust's requirements.

Additionally, the consultant will coordinate with municipal departments, secure no-objection certificates from relevant authorities, and prepare conceptual designs for final approval. They will also oversee regulatory processes, ensure necessary approvals are obtained, and provide detailed cost estimates.

The project is expected to be completed within 24 months after receiving the required permissions. The consultant will receive Rs 3.55 crore for their services.

To ease congestion at the temple's entry, the BMC plans to relocate vendors from Rao Bahadur S K Bole Road to Kakasaheb Gadgil Road. The project will also expand surrounding roads, improve traffic flow, and enhance the overall visitor experience.

Additional features will include state-of-the-art crowd management, ample parking, accessible washrooms, temporary seating for vulnerable groups, and shelters for devotees in queues.
