Appointments

  • The revenue secretary Sanjay Malhotra has been appointed the 26th governor of the Reserve Bank of India, succeeding Shaktikanta Das, whose term ends on December 10, 2024. A 1990 Batch Rajasthan Cadre IAS Officer, Malhotra holds a computer science engineering degree from IIT Kanpur and completed his Master's in Public Policy at Princeton University, USA. The appointments committee of the cabinet approved Malhotra's appointment for a three-year term.
  • Air India has appointed Captain Basil Kwauk as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO), effective January 2025. Kwauk, a skilled pilot and mechanical engineer, has a diverse background in operating aircraft, from Airbus A319s to Boeing 787s. He will be relocating to New Delhi in the coming weeks.
