The Andhra Pradesh cabinet approved two major engineering projects worth Rs 27.23 billion for Amaravati, the greenfield capital city, during a meeting on Thursday. These projects include a 1 million tonne per annum green ammonia manufacturing facility and South India's first integrated energy project. Highlighting the previous neglect of Amaravati under the YSRCP regime, Information and Public Relations Minister K Parthasarathy emphasised that the TDP-led government is focused on transforming Amaravati into a world-class capital.

Parthasarathy mentioned that development projects in Amaravati will be executed with financial assistance from organisations like the World Bank, HUDCO, and Germany, and that fresh tenders are being floated as per their guidelines. Unlike the earlier administration, he noted, several industrialists are now expressing interest in setting up operations in Andhra Pradesh.

The cabinet approved the proposal by AM Green Ammonia (India) to establish a green ammonia facility with a 1 MMTA capacity in Kakinada. Additionally, Clean Renewable Energy Hybrid Three Way received approval to develop a solar hybrid and battery storage project in the Nandyal and Kadapa districts, comprising 119 MW of wind energy and 130 MW of solar energy capacity.

Parthasarathy also announced that Tata Power Renewable Energy would establish a 400 MW solar energy project, with the conglomerate managing its land requirements. This initiative is expected to attract Rs 20 billion in investments and create 1,380 jobs. The cabinet also sanctioned Reliance Industries’ proposal to construct 500 compressed biogas (CBG) plants across various districts, with a total capacity of 11,000 tonnes. This project is expected to bring Rs 650 billion in investments and generate employment for 2.5 lakh individuals.

The minister further revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Visakhapatnam on January 8. Arrangements are being made for a public meeting at Andhra University's engineering college grounds, with the PM set to conduct a roadshow from Sampat Vinayak temple to the venue. During his visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the NTPC green hydrogen hub at Pudimaka, which involves Rs 653.70 billion in investments over three phases.

Additionally, Modi will inaugurate the Rs 15.18 billion Krishnapatnam Industrial Hub, whose first phase spans 2,500 acres, and lay the foundation for the Visakhapatnam railway zone along with other development initiatives.
