Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various Central and State Government projects worth over Rs 8 billion in Patna, Bihar. The event, attended by Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Nityanand Rai, marked a significant step towards infrastructure and cooperative sector development in the state.

In his address, Shri Amit Shah highlighted Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitment to the welfare of the poor, ensuring essential amenities such as housing, electricity, gas, drinking water, sanitation, and healthcare. He underscored the government's focus on revitalising Bihar’s cooperative sector, particularly in agriculture and sugar production, which had suffered under previous administrations.

Shah announced the revival of 30 closed sugar mills in Bihar, emphasising the state’s immense potential due to its fertile land, water resources, and agrarian strength. He criticised past opposition governments for neglecting the cooperative sector, leading to its decline and economic setbacks. Under PM Modi’s leadership, substantial investments have been directed towards rural credit institutions, including the establishment of a Makhana Board and the revival of the Maize Research Centre with an investment of Rs 10 billion.

Comparing the financial allocations over the years, Shri Shah pointed out that between 2004 and 2014, Bihar received Rs 2.8 trillion from the central government, whereas in the past decade, the Modi government has allocated Rs 9.23 trfor the state's development. This funding has facilitated extensive projects, including Rs 4 trillion for roads and bridges, Rs 1 trillion for railway infrastructure, and Rs 20 billion for airports.

During the event, foundation stones were laid for key projects, including Rs 831.6 million for food storage facilities, Rs 1.81 billion for 133 police buildings, and Rs 1.09 billion for three road transport projects. Several completed projects were also inaugurated, such as a Rs 272.9 billion hostel at Deep Narayan Singh Regional Cooperative Management Institute and Rs 4.21 billion worth of drinking water supply schemes under the AMRUT-1 project.

Shri Amit Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to Bihar’s progress, asserting that the era of "Jungle Raj" had ended, making way for sustainable growth and prosperity.
