IndiaAI and Microsoft Collaborate to Drive AI for Inclusive Growth

IndiaAI, an Independent Business Division (IBD) under the Digital India Corporation, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft to promote the adoption and development of artificial intelligence (AI) in India. This strategic partnership is aligned with the goals of the India AI Mission.

Abhishek Singh, CEO of IndiaAI Mission, emphasised the power of collaborative innovation in advancing India’s AI ecosystem. He stated that the India AI Mission, implemented by the Government of India, is focused on addressing key challenges that will help India lead in AI applications. This partnership with Microsoft aligns with the mission’s core pillars: skilling, innovation, and responsible AI development. Singh mentioned that training 500,000 individuals, fostering innovation through AI Centers of Excellence, and delivering AI-driven solutions in critical sectors are key milestones in advancing the AI ecosystem. He highlighted the importance of inclusivity in the collaboration, empowering underserved communities, promoting ethical AI practices, and supporting start-ups to drive economic growth. He also stressed the shared commitment to positioning India as a global AI leader and creating a sustainable future for all.

Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia, emphasised the collaboration’s significance in advancing AI and emerging technologies in India. He expressed pride in partnering with IndiaAI to support India’s journey toward becoming an AI-first nation. Chandok reiterated that the collaboration underscores Microsoft's commitment to democratising access to AI, empowering communities, and fostering innovation, particularly in rural and underserved areas. He noted that the two organisations are dedicated to accelerating AI adoption and creating a sustainable future for all.

This partnership highlights the shared vision of IndiaAI and Microsoft to leverage AI for inclusive development and economic transformation. By focusing on skilling, innovation, datasets, and responsible AI practices, the collaboration aims to address citizen-scale challenges, foster entrepreneurship, and build a robust AI ecosystem in India.
