German-headquartered electric drive system manufacturer Vitesco Technologies recently inaugurated its new plant at Talegaon, Pune.

The firm has invested nearly €30 million (Rs 2.40 billion) in the new facility, spread across 20 acres of land, which will employ 900 people. In a press statement, it is said that the plant's first series of production will be for the two-wheeler market, followed by various powertrain solutions products, such as engine management systems, sensors, and actuators and exhaust management components for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

The company will concentrate its efforts at this facility on the growing demand for highly efficient, low-emission technologies for internal combustion engines, as well as electrified and all-electric drive systems.

“Building this factory was a major milestone for Vitesco Technologies, allowing us to provide better value to our clients in the Indian market,” said Klaus Hau, member of the executive board of Vitesco Technologies. “India plays a central part in our global growth strategy. The objective is to achieve a twin technological transformation: from fossil fuels to renewable energy, and from analogue to digital technology.”

Like all Vitesco Technologies facilities, the Pune plant will meet its grid demand entirely through renewable energy sources. Furthermore, the site generates sustainable electricity.
