Welspun Enterprises bags Rs 4,636 cr order from BMC

On Wednesday, Welspun Enterprises Ltd (WEL) told the media that it has received its single-largest order of Rs 4,636 crore from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the Dharavi Wastewater Treatment Facility.
WEL said that this takes the outstanding order book of the firm to about Rs 12,500 crore, of which Rs 6,000 crore is from the road sector and the remaining Rs 6,500 crore is from the water sector.
Under this project, a joint venture (JV) led by the firm will design, build, operate, and maintain the Dharavi Wastewater Treatment Facility, including the Tertiary treatment facility under Mumbai Sewage Disposal Project, Stage II.
Chairman of Welspun Group B K Goenka told the media that this is the single highest value order so far for the firm in the most vital sector of water infrastructure in India. In India, this project for one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities is a vital step in attaining Swachh Mumbai, Maharashtra, and Bharat, and they are extremely delighted to be part of this journey.
Under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), Welspun Enterprises is an infrastructure development company with road and water projects specialisation through large-value Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts.
It also undertakes Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) projects.
In the highway sector alone, the firm has achieved six BOT (Toll) road projects with a total length of above 500 km.
