Strike continues to revoke permit for Bhutani's Sancoale project
Opposition panch members from Sancoale village have called for the project’s revocation, claiming that the project proponent failed to address 35 observations, NOCs, and permissions specified in the technical clearance issued by the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA).
Opposition panch member Maurelio Carvalho stated that the project proponent had misrepresented the project and lacked the necessary permissions from relevant authorities for technical clearance from the MPDA. He further explained that the Sancoale panchayat had issued a show-cause notice requesting the required NOCs, but the project proponent had not clarified if they possessed the essential documentation.
Meanwhile, panch members of the ruling party have decided to seek legal advice instead of revoking the construction license, despite the project proponent’s failure to provide information on the NOCs.
The protesters have urged ruling panch members to join their movement against Bhutani’s project. Carvalho emphasized the need for unity among the Sancoale panch members, saying that they should come together in the village's interest and reject the construction license issued to Bhutani’s project. He noted that six members' support was required to form a quorum to cancel the project.
