MHADA Grants One-Year NOC for Net Shed at Swami Vivekanand School

The Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board (MHADA) has granted a one-year No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Swami Vivekananda Shikshan Vikas Mandal Trust for reinstalling a turf and constructing a nylon net shed on the school's sports ground in Gorai, Borivali. The approval follows the school’s commitment that the facility will not be used for commercial purposes.

The decision was made after the trust’s representatives met with MHADA Mumbai Board’s Chief Officer and assured compliance with all regulations. The board has explicitly prohibited any commercial use of the net shed and stated that it is strictly for student-related sports and academic activities.

MHADA had previously issued a one-year NOC on December 1, 2023, but later received complaints of commercial use. After the NOC expired, MHADA ordered the removal of the net shed. When the school failed to comply, MHADA, with police assistance, dismantled the structure on March 5 and 6, 2025.

The trust was allocated Plot No. 12, Gorai-1, Borivali (W), Mumbai-400091, under a lease agreement dated December 16, 1994. The total area of 5,875.60 sq. m. includes 2,567.00 sq. m. for school buildings and 3,308.60 sq. m. for the playground.

Cricket coach Dinesh Lad welcomed MHADA’s decision, thanking the board for granting the one-year NOC for the net shed.
