Maharashtra Plans Mandatory Precast Construction for Mumbai

The Maharashtra government is formulating a policy to mandate precast construction for real estate firms in Mumbai, aiming to curb air pollution, state Environment Minister Pankaja Munde announced on Saturday.

The proposed policy, applicable to both private and public construction sites, will offer incentives to encourage developers to transition from traditional on-site construction to precast methods.

"Precast construction will enable builders and contractors to source readymade components from outside the city, minimising on-site activities and significantly reducing air pollution while ensuring uninterrupted progress on projects," Munde stated.
