Indore civic body seals three shops for illegal use of basements

Indore's district administration sealed a prominent furniture showroom and three other establishments for using basement spaces for commercial activities instead of their designated purpose as parking areas. This action is part of the administration's ongoing crackdown on establishments violating regulations concerning basement usage.

The operation was carried out by a joint team from the district administration and Indore Municipal Corporation, acting on the directives of Collector Asheesh Singh. They sealed the basements of four buildings, including a well-known furniture showroom opposite the Radisson Hotel and three buildings in the Bhawarkuan and Kesarbagh localities, all of which were found to be misusing parking spaces for commercial purposes.

Despite previous notices issued by the Indore Municipal Corporation, many building owners continued to use basement parking areas for unauthorised commercial activities. The district administration emphasised that clearing these encroachments would free up parking space and help ease traffic congestion in the affected areas.

In a separate operation, the civic body also sealed a bakery and a supermarket godown due to poor hygiene and waste dumping in the open. Building official Sunil Jadaun reported that 17 establishments in Zone No. 13 were found to have constructed shops in areas reserved for parking. This included seven shops on the parking floor of a building on Pipliyarav Bholaram Ustad Road, six shops in the parking area of Building No. 13 in Vishnupuri, and four shops on the parking floor of Building No. 3 in Nema Nagar, all of which were sealed during the operation.
