The central government has set up a Technology Sub-Mission (TSM) under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) to facilitate the adoption of modern, innovative, green technologies and building materials for housing construction.
TSM enables the preparation and adoption of layout designs and building plans suitable for various geo-climatic zones and helps the states and cities to deploy disaster-resistant and environment-friendly technologies.
The government has undertaken some activities under TSM.
Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India) identifies and mainstream the best construction technologies available globally that are rapid, sustainable, green and disaster-resistant.
It includes 54 innovative proven construction technologies shortlisted from across the globe.
Six LightHouse Projects (LHPs) were shortlisted under GHTC-India using six distinct technologies constructed at six places in India.
A free online Enrolment Module for TECHNOGRAHIS was launched to expose the interested stakeholders to know different phases of use of innovative technologies in LHPs for adoption and its replication.
Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerator (ASHA) India includes five Incubation Centres set up to provide Incubation Support to potential future market technologies.
New, Affordable, Validated, Research Innovation Technologies for Indian Housing (NAVARITIH) was launched to boost the capability of building professionals about the latest and emerging building materials, technologies and processes for building construction.
Indian Housing Technology Mela (IHTM) shows the domestic indigenous and innovative technologies, building materials and construction processes for low and medium-rise houses. It includes 84 innovative technologies, products and materials shortlisted.
