Court Restrains Developer from Property Transfers

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has restrained Jarnail Singh Bajwa, the Managing Director of Bajwa Developers Private Limited, from transferring, selling, or disposing of any of his properties, citing numerous pending FIRs. Despite multiple cases, Bajwa has yet to be arrested in any, including one dating back to 2008.

The court's decision follows the discovery of Bajwa’s long-standing evasion of arrest in over 20 cases. Notably, FIR No. 328 from 2008 remains unresolved, along with several others registered between 2017 and 2019. Many of these cases, filed in police stations across Mohali, Kharar, and Rupnagar, include serious charges such as criminal conspiracy, cheating, and violations under the Arms Act.

Justice Sandeep Maudgil has also ordered Bajwa to submit a full list of his movable and immovable assets by September 25. The court criticized the Punjab Police for their lack of action over the years, prompting renewed efforts following a reprimand by the court. Bajwa’s bail had been canceled in October 2023, yet no arrest had been made until his recent detention last month. The case underscores concerns over law enforcement inefficacies.
