Bhubaneswar: 116 families receive housing allotments

In a significant move to provide affordable housing, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has distributed allotment letters to 116 families under its affordable housing project. The allotments, which were given out in a transparent lottery system, cover three different housing projects: Chandrasekharpur AHP (47 families), Nilamadhab Awas AHP (36 families), and Barunei Enclave AHP in Subudhipur (28 families).

Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, who is also the chairperson of BDA, presided over the ceremony and emphasized the importance of these schemes in providing shelter to low-income families in Bhubaneswar. The minister said, “Owning a house in the capital city is a dream for many, and through these affordable housing schemes, we are not just providing shelter but ensuring a better quality of life for families with proper infrastructure and basic amenities.” The allocation process was overseen by independent observers to ensure transparency.

The BDA has confirmed that the remaining houses in these projects will be distributed in phases to eligible beneficiaries. These efforts align with the Odisha state government’s larger vision to provide affordable housing to urban poor, making Bhubaneswar a more inclusive and accessible city for all.
