Town planning schemes in ploy for industrial zones out of Ahmedabad

The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), is drawing 16 town planning (TP) schemes to meet the requirements of the manufacturing sector.
The scheme will not allow potential polluting units to enter the clusters. The TP schemes will have 18 to 30 metres or more wide roads, and no residential areas will be planned within proximity to these schemes.
The TP schemes have been submitted to the state urban development department. The schemes are for Kalana, Kalana-Shiyavada, Chharodi-Dodar-Khoraj-Virochan Nagar, Chharodi, Iyava-Rupavati-Khoda, Iyava-Vasna, Chharodi-Naranpura and four more in Santej and Rakanpur.
According to AUDA official, the 12 schemes of Kalana, Chharodi and Naranpura will cover 1,548 hectares area, and the scheme between Santeja and Rakanpur will cover 508 hectares area. Under the TP scheme, the roads are planned that the traffic can move about without much hindrance.
The official added that these TP schemes are specially linked to the clusters that are a part of the Delhi-Mumbai industrial freight corridor. Some of these TP schemes lie near the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The town planning body has provisioned wide service lanes along the freight corridor for goods transportation between the designated clusters.
