John Deere launches 350 P-tier, 380 P-tier midsized excavators

John Deere introduced the first excavators under its new Performance Tiering strategy – the mid-sized 350 P-tier and 380 P-tier.

These updated machines support on-demand security, comfort, and control, everything while providing the power required for high production on the job.

Improved front-joint durability, a redesigned hood that enhances serviceability and cooler access, and up to 7% greater fuel efficiency are among the new features.

In addition, the new mid-sized models are created to accommodate various operators with the simple flip of a lever.

Under the new tiering system, Deere is dropping the letter at the model name's end that indicates the machine's generation. Instead of that letter is one of three letters meant to signify its performance and technology tier: a G, P or X.

Each of the letters denotes a set level of features, with G as the economy model; P has advanced features, and the X-tier represents the company’s hybrid diesel-electric technology and numerous advanced features.

The new P-tier replaces the G-Series nomenclature for the 350 and 380. On the machines, a P is shown under the model number. At this time, no other tier levels are unveiled for excavators.

Both excavators deliver SmartGrade technology as a factory option and field upgrade kits.

Customers have the option to choose from 2D guidance, 3D guidance, 2D SmartGrade Ready Control, and SmartGrade 3D Control, including over-dig protection and in-cab real-time distance to the target.

The availability of a right, back, and left camera system with LED surround illumination that gives greater 270-degree sight and is incorporated into the primary display in the cab has improved visibility around the machines.

The two excavators have a new, bigger hood design and improved serviceability outside the cab.

To reduce daily operating costs, the machines' fuel efficiency has increased by 7% over the last models. The machine weighs- 80,985 lbs (350 P-Tier) 85,462 lbs (380 P-Tier) and has an engine power of 271 hp.

It can dig depth up to 26 ft 10 inches and dump height till 25 ft. The maximum reach of the machine is 36 ft 5 inches.
