Work Pending on 25 GW Hydro and Pump Storage Projects
The Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, mentioned in the written reply that 26 hydroelectric projects (HEPs) with an aggregate installed capacity of 19,214 MW and 5 pumped storage projects (PSPs) with an aggregate installed capacity of 6,020 MW have already been approved by the CEA but are yet to be taken up for construction.
In a separate reply, the minister informed that works amounting to Rs 42.81 billion have been sanctioned for the electrification of 949,548 households, including those from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) under the PM-JANMAN (Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan) and tribal households identified under DA-JGUA. Furthermore, under the New Solar Power scheme, works worth Rs 490 million have been sanctioned for off-grid solar-based electrification of 9,863 households.
