Western Coalfields Seeks Bids for 1.3 MW Rooftop Solar Systems

Western Coalfields, a subsidiary of Coal India, has invited bids for the installation of 1.343 MW rooftop solar systems across its residential and non-residential buildings. The last date for bid submission is April 10, 2025, with bids set to open on April 12.

The project, estimated at Rs 60.03 million, must be completed within 180 days of receiving the work order, and the installer will handle maintenance for five years following a one-year warranty period. Bidders must provide an earnest money deposit of Rs 750,400, and the winning bidder must submit 5% of the contract amount as performance security within 21 days of the letter of intent.

To qualify, bidders must have completed similar projects valued at 40%, 50%, or 80% of the estimated work cost in the last seven years and must demonstrate an average annual turnover of at least 30% of the project cost over the past three years. The solar systems must achieve a minimum capacity utilisation factor of 17%.

Delays beyond the agreed commissioning date will incur a penalty of 0.5% of the contract amount per week, capped at 10% of the total contract value. This move follows similar solar project bids by South Eastern Coalfields and the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute.
