Tata Power ties up with renewable energy AI firm BluWave-ai

Tata Power Limited has tied up with the renewable energy artificial intelligence (AI) company BluWave-ai and signed three years of a commercial agreement with BluWave-ai, the world's first renewable energy AI company.

The deal was closed after carrying out a successful trial project in which Tata Power evaluated the performance of the BluWave-ai cloud platform to generate intra-day and day-ahead dispatches to use in its power scheduling.

India has taken initiatives to mandate accurate energy scheduling and a real-time market to improve the onboarding of renewable energy in the national grid.

The electricity distribution companies (discoms) are facing strict penalties for deviating from planned energy usage, which results in inaccurate power scheduling.

Tata Power has an innovative plan to activate AI's potential to optimise power scheduling, thus adding a new regulatory change.

Other AI solutions used by Tata Power include The Central Control room for Renewable Assets (CCRA). It uses machine learning based on loss estimation, forecasting and alert notification.

For optimising coal supply and other inventory measurements, Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL) and Maithon Power Plant Limited (MPL) of Tata Power use it to plant Coal Supply Management (Coal SCM) and Management Strategic Review (MSR).

Tata Power's Mumbai Distribution company has executed a sentiment analysis tool for classifying the email and routing to proactive the assessment of consumer needs.

Besides the forecasting of BluWave, the Power Systems Computation Conference (PSCC) team has also implemented change overload prediction and route-to-market (RTM) optimisation, which uses a neural network and linear programming to ensure optimised power purchase, and thus keeping the power purchase cost at an optimised level.

India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) has recognised the leadership of Tata Power and BluWave-ai in the Utility Distribution category. It acknowledges the benefits of the BluWave-ai method of forecasting energy consumption load at Tata Power.
