Tamil Nadu Floats 1 GWh Battery Storage Tender with VGF Support

Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation (TNGECL) has invited bids for six standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a total capacity of 1,000 MWh (500 MW x 2 hours) to support Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corp (TNPDCL) in managing peak and off-peak demand. Under the viability gap funding (VGF) scheme, the central government will cover up to 30 per cent of capital costs or Rs 2.7 million per MWh, whichever is lower. Developed under a build-own-operate (BOO) model, the project aims to enhance grid reliability, renewable integration, and power stability in Tamil Nadu
