SJVN plans to invest Rs 8,000 crore in 2022-23

Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) a state-run hydro major plans to invest approximately Rs 8,000 crore in the next fiscal year (2022-23), a 45% increase over the capital expenditure of the current financial year of Rs 5,500 crore, on several hydro, thermal, transmission, and renewable energy under-construction projects.

In a statement, the company said that it has achieved the capital expenditure (capex) target for the current fiscal year of Rs 5,000 crore a month prior. With the existing pace of work, they might exceed the target by 10%.

SJVN is targeting capex utilisation of Rs 8,000 crore for the financial year (FY) 2022-23, with various projects which are currently under development. Therefore, the company is ready to accomplish this target as well.

This capital expenditure is distributed among ten projects having over 3,500 MW capacity which are in the construction stage while the capex utilisation showcases the pace and quantum of works under development in SJVN.

The projects in advanced stages of construction utilising a huge portion of the capital expenditure comprise Bihar- 1,320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project, Nepal - 900 MW Arun-3 Hydro Electric Project, Nepal - 217 km Arun-3 Transmission Line, and Bhutan - 600 MW Kholongchuu Hydro Electric Project.

Furthermore, there are other projects including the 210 MW Luhri-1 Hydro Electric Project and 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydro Electric Project set in Himachal Pradesh.
