Rajasthan, Gujarat Urged to Boost Solar Policies

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) has urged Rajasthan and Gujarat to enhance their renewable energy policies and tap into the vast untapped solar potential in both states. In a recent report, IEEFA emphasized the significant opportunity for solar energy in these regions, which have some of the highest solar radiation levels in India, making them ideal for large-scale solar projects.

Both Rajasthan and Gujarat have made strides in expanding their renewable energy capacities, with Gujarat being a leader in solar energy in India. However, IEEFA suggests that there is still untapped potential that could be harnessed through better policy frameworks and more targeted investments in solar infrastructure. By adopting forward-thinking policies, both states can boost their solar energy output and contribute significantly to India’s renewable energy goals.

The report also highlights the importance of supporting mechanisms such as subsidies, incentives for solar developers, and a focus on infrastructure improvements, which can further accelerate solar adoption. Rajasthan and Gujarat have favorable conditions, but without the necessary policy support, there could be delays in realizing their full solar potential.

With both states being at the forefront of India’s renewable energy transition, IEEFA’s recommendations are aimed at ensuring that Rajasthan and Gujarat continue to lead the charge in solar energy, pushing for increased investments, improved grid integration, and stronger regulatory frameworks that encourage private sector participation.
