The Punjab government is considering the establishment of 66 solar power plants, each with a capacity of 4 MW, as part of its ambitious clean energy initiative, Minister of New and Renewable Energy Sources Aman Arora announced. During a meeting chaired by Arora and Power Minister Harbhajan Singh, senior officers from the departments of new and renewable energy sources, power, and the Punjab Development Commission discussed strategies for this significant project.
Upon completion, the solar power plants are projected to generate approximately 390 million units (MU) of electricity annually. The implementation of feeder-level solarisation is expected to result in annual savings of around Rs 1.36 billion. Additionally, the project will attract investments of about Rs 1.56 billion, creating job opportunities for both skilled and semi-skilled workers in the non-conventional energy sector.
