Prozeal Wins Rs.3.13 Billion Solar Project in Leh

Solar energy solutions provider Prozeal Green Energy has won a significant tender from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to develop a 25 MW solar PV project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Taru, Leh. This project, which will include a 50 MWp peak capacity solar plant and a 20 MW/50 MWh BESS, marks a major advancement in renewable energy for the remote Ladakh region.

Prozeal Green Energy’s winning bid amounts to Rs.3.13 billion (~$37.2 million), with the contract value allocated to three key areas:

Plant and mandatory spare parts: Rs.2.2 billion (~$26.1 million) Freight, design, civil, and installation services: Rs.583.2 million (~$6.9 million) Operations & Maintenance (O&M): Rs.280.5 million (~$3.3 million) The tender, issued by SECI in April 2024, stipulates that only solar modules listed on the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's Approved List for Models and Manufacturers can be used. Additionally, the entire crystalline silicon technology process, from wafer production to solar module assembly, must be completed within Indian manufacturing facilities.

This project is designed to strengthen energy security in Leh by addressing the challenges of solar power intermittency through the integration of the BESS, ensuring a more stable energy supply for the region's difficult terrain.

Prozeal Green Energy continues to emerge as a leader in utility-scale solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. The company was ranked among the top EPC service providers in 2023, according to Mercom’s India Solar Market Leaderboard. It also won the Best Commercial and Industrial (Ground-Mount) Project award at the Mercom India Awards for its 66 MW solar project in Ottapidaram, Tamil Nadu.

By securing this latest project, Prozeal Green Energy strengthens its presence in India's renewable energy sector, contributing to the country’s push for sustainable and stable energy solutions in remote and challenging areas like Ladakh.
