PM Modi to launch Rs 10,400 cr energy projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to dedicate various initiatives in the petroleum and natural gas sector, totaling Rs 10,400 crore, as part of his upcoming visit to Pune, Maharashtra, on September 26. This announcement represents a significant boost to India's energy infrastructure.

During his visit, Modi will inaugurate the completed first phase of the Pune Metro Rail Project, which includes the newly finished underground section from District Court to Swargate, built at a cost of Rs 1,810 crore. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Swargate-Katraj Extension of the Pune Metro, estimated at Rs 2,950 crore.

Key highlights of his visit include the launch of several green initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting cleaner mobility. This includes dedicating 500 new electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities nationwide, part of a broader plan to establish 10,000 EV charging stations by FY 2025, with a budget of Rs 1,500 crore. Additionally, he will inaugurate 20 Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) stations, with plans for 50 more across various states, involving an investment of approximately Rs 500 crore.

PM Modi will also unveil 1,500 retail outlets for E20 (20% ethanol-blended) petrol, reflecting the government's commitment to sustainable energy practices, with a project cost of around ?225 crore.

Further, the visit will see the inauguration of wayside amenities for truck and cab drivers, constructed at a cost of Rs 2,170 crore across several states, including Maharashtra, Punjab, Gujarat, and Karnataka. These facilities aim to enhance the travel experience by providing services such as boarding, lodging, and safe parking.

On a larger scale, the prime minister will inaugurate Solapur Airport and the Bidkin Industrial Area, which are expected to promote economic growth in the Marathwada region as part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Program.
