NHPC, JKSPDC form JV for 850 MW Ratle hydroelectric project
The joint venture company incorporated on 1 June 2021, with NHPC, and JKSPDC, having an equity share of 51% and 49%, respectively. Ratle Hydroelectric Project (850 MW) is a Run of River Scheme built on River Chenab located in the Kishtwar district in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
A tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on 3 February 2019, between NHPC, JKSPDC, and the former Government of Jammu and Kashmir in the prominent presence of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
Additionally, a supplementary MoU for implementation of the Ratle hydroelectric project was signed on 3 January 2021, at Jammu.
The Ministry of Power has already sent investment approval for 850 MW Ratle HE Project formation at an approximate cost of Rs 5281.94 crore. Finally, the promoters agreement was signed on 13 April 2021, heading to the incorporation of Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation.
