KPCL to Establish Solar Projects at Thermal Power Stations in Karnataka
The project will be overseen by Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC), a public-sector enterprise under National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, which has already called for tenders. A private company will implement the projects on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model, with a three-year timeline.
KPCL sees the initiative as a means to balance energy generation and expand its renewable energy capacity. Recently, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) invited tenders for a 300-kilowatt green hydrogen plant at BTPS, valued at ?13.08 crore. A private entity will handle the installation, testing, commissioning, and 10-year operation and maintenance of the project. This pilot project aims to utilise the green hydrogen produced by KPCL.
