JSW Energy Signs 25-Year PPA with WBSEDCL for 1,600 MW Plant

JSW Energy has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) for a greenfield 1,600 MW super/ultra supercritical thermal power plant in Salboni, West Bengal.

Key Highlights The project is scheduled for commissioning within 5 years. The PPA, signed for 25 years, will utilize domestic linkage coal allocated to West Bengal under the SHAKTI B (iv) policy. The project is expected to boost local employment opportunities and contribute to the region’s economic growth while ensuring a stable power supply. Utkal Thermal Power Plant Achieves Milestone JSW Energy has successfully commissioned Unit-2 of the Utkal Thermal Power Plant (700 MW).

The plant uses domestic coal and sells power via the merchant market and bilateral contracts. The commissioning comes ahead of the upcoming high-demand season, ensuring a reliable base load power supply. Recent Acquisition The company recently acquired KSK Mahanadi Power Company, which operates a thermal plant in Chhattisgarh.
