India Pursues Cross-Border Power Grid Deals
The initiative is seen as a transformative step toward India’s leadership in the global renewable energy sector. By connecting its power grid with neighboring countries, India plans to enable energy exchange, especially from solar energy, to meet the growing power demands in the region. This cross-border collaboration aligns with India’s commitments to reduce its carbon footprint and transition to cleaner energy sources.
Under OSOWOG, India is working with countries across the Gulf and Asia, who have abundant solar energy potential, to tap into their renewable resources. The grid links would allow power to be transmitted across borders, optimizing energy supply, and providing countries with access to cleaner energy options, thus ensuring more stable and reliable energy access across the region.
The proposed cross-border power grid project is expected to foster economic growth and strengthen energy security for all participating countries. It will also serve as a catalyst for increasing investments in renewable energy infrastructure, making the transition to green energy more feasible.
