PM Surya Ghar
sees rooftop solar
capacity increase
by 50%
Muft Bijli Yojana under PM Surya
Ghar has boosted rooftop solar
capacity by over 50 per cent
within six months of its launch.
Approved in February with
`750.21 billion, the scheme
enables households to generate
their own electricity. Minister
Pralhad Joshi announced 400,000
rooftop solar connections, adding
1.8 gw, raising residential solar
capacity to 3.2 gw by March.
Overall rooftop capacity reached
11.9 gw, with 60 per cent serving
commercial users. Subsidies on
solar modules were increased to
60 per cent, with loans at 7 per
cent interest. The scheme aims to
achieve 30 gw residential solar
capacity by 2027.
