HPCL Invites Bids for Floating Solar Projects

HPCL Renewable and Green Energy (HPRGE) is seeking bids for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of three floating solar projects: a 9 MW project in Jaisalmer and a 14 MW project in Balotra, both located in Rajasthan, as well as a 2 MW project in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Bidders must submit their proposals by October 15, 2024. The successful bidders will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the projects for a decade. The Jaisalmer project's electricity can be transmitted via intra-state open access, while the Balotra and Visakhapatnam projects will utilize a behind-the-meter consumption system.

Financial requirements for bidders vary: an average turnover of ?72.6 million is needed for Jaisalmer, ?97.5 million for Balotra, and ?9 million for Visakhapatnam, based on the past three years. Bidders must also demonstrate experience in executing similar floating solar projects, with specific capacity requirements.

This initiative aligns with HPCL's ongoing efforts to enhance renewable energy capacities. In May, HPRGE sought bids for consultancy services for various rooftop and floating solar projects, totaling 81.5 MW in capacity.

The growing focus on floating solar technology represents a significant step toward diversifying India’s renewable energy sources and enhancing energy security.
