Himachal CM Calls for Boosting Solar Power Generation in State
He noted that a 32 MW Solar Power Project had been established at Pekhubela in the Una district, while construction was underway for a 10 MW solar power project in Kutlehar and a 5 MW project in Gagret assembly constituencies. CM Sukhu projected that Himachal Pradesh would be able to harness approximately 50 MW of solar energy within the next six months.
According to a statement released by the Chief Minister's Office, directions were given to the officers to accelerate the progress of on-going solar power projects and to complete them as soon as possible. Additionally, they were instructed to identify new sites for future solar power projects.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state's initiative to encourage youth to enter the solar power generation sector to create employment opportunities for themselves. He assured that these projects would be allocated to genuine Himachalis.
Acknowledging the growing power demand, CM Sukhu emphasized the importance of incorporating solar power alongside hydel power. He pointed out that solar energy is a clean, renewable source that reduces carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. Moreover, he noted that solar power projects require minimal maintenance and have a longer lifespan.
